Guest master weekend February 2018: Norbert Nozy
Norbert Nozy is an internationally renowned and respected Belgian orchestra conductor, saxophonist and conservatoire teacher. He made an important international contribution to the good case of the wind and brass music. He cared for building it up and preserved its level. He studied at the Royal Conservatoire Brussels, the Lemmens Institute Leuven and the Paris Conservatoire. Already as a young conductor he won prices at different conducting concourses, among which at the Gaudeamus Contempary Music Concours Rotterdam. He was Chief Conductor at the Music Chapel of the First Belgian Forces in Cologne, the Harmony Orchestra of Belgian Forces, the Harmony Orchestra St.Michael at Thorn (NL), the Royal Harmony Thorn (NL) and the Royal Military Orchestra Johan Willem Friso at Assen (NL). Norbert Nozy is an exceptional saxophonist. He played in the Belgian Saxophone Ensemble, represented Belgium at different international congresses, and played in the Harmony Orchestra of the Belgian Forces. He is teacher Saxophone and Wind Conducting, and conductor of the Conservatoire Harmony Orchestra at the Conservatoire of Brussels. He teaches at the Conservatoires of Leuven (B) and Maastricht (NL), and at the Music Seminars Les Rièzes et les Sarts at Culdes Sarts (B). As a guest teacher he gives masterclasses in different countries. As a jury member he is well known, like at the World Music Concours Kerkrade, Tenutoconcours Brussels, Saxophone Festival Dinant, and Certamen Internacional de Bandas de Musica Ciudad de Valencia.
